Updated Browser Info

This red section includes some information on problems with recent browser versions. Read this first, if you are having problems seeing and hearing the song movies.

If you have problems accessing the songs using your web browser, try a different browser. They are all free to download and use, and it is possible to use multiple web browsers on your computer. Some of the most popular browsers are Internet Explorer (Microsoft), Firefox (www.mozilla.org), Safari (www.apple.com), Opera (www.opera.com), and Chrome (www.google.com). They are all available for both Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh.

If you are using the web browsers Firefox 3 or Google Chrome, you might have problems accessing some of the songs. If you encounter that problem, as suggested, you can try a different browser. If you would like to use  the songs with those browsers, send me an e-mail at michaelDOTspectorATlausdDOTnet (replace the words AT and DOT with their symbols),  and I will tell you how to solve that problem.

If your web browser is Internet Explorer 7 or 8, you may get a message about "blocked content".  If you do, click the options to run the content. (Nothing harmful could occur to your computer, from playing the songs.) If you get a message (near the top) asking if you wish to run ActiveX  or javascript content, please click "Yes". (If you would like to fix the problem so you do not see these warning messages that you have to click, then e-mail me for further directions.) Once again, another option is to use a different web browser.

Basic Info

It is necessary to have Quicktime Version 7 or later on your computer, in order to play the song files. If you do not have that installed, you should get a message asking you to install it, with the plug-in for your browser. It is a free download, available for both Macintosh and Windows.

If you do not get such a message, however, and do not already have  Quicktime 7 or later, it can be downloaded manually at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Go there and choose your operating system, to download the free version. (They try to sell you the “Pro” version, which they charge for, but the free version is fine for playing back these songs.) Choose “Full Install”, if asked which type of installation. (When using the free version of the QuickTime Player outside of your web browser, you might sometime get a message asking if you wish to upgrade "now" or "later". Choose "later".)

Some of the word and music pages require Acrobat Reader. If you do not have that installed already, you can obtain it (free download) at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. You could also use an alternate free PDF reader, such as Foxit Reader.

Please remember that some of these songs might take some time to load, especially if you are using a slower Internet connection (such as dial-up). After clicking on the song, do something else, and come back to it after the song has loaded.

If you continue to have problems seeing and hearing the song movies, please e-mail me at the address above.
