Recently published research has revealed potential benefits from nutrition in avoiding development of cataract and macular degeneration. Lutein and other antioxidants found in certain foods may be responsible for this protective effect. The highest Lutein content is found in the following foods:
*about 1/2 cup of cooked vegetable per serving Lutein is also available in supplement form as a component of some multivitamins. Studies have also shown that eating fish 3+ times per week is also protective against macular degeneration. |
